Tonight our ‘home’ Chester-le-Street Community Centre is lighting up their stage in ‘Emergency Red’ joining 500+ venues across the UK as part of the #LightItInRed campaign.
‘Light It In Red’ is highlighting the situation that is leaving the live events industry on the edge of collapse. While the rescue package from the Government is welcomed, clarification is still required regarding the reopening of such venues and what this means to the wider theatrical and events industry.
Backstage in theatre, a red light signifies ‘stand-by’, before getting a green light to go! Chester-le-Street Theatre Group stopped all rehearsals for their summer musical ‘Betty Blue Eyes’ in March due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Tonight would have been our Dress Rehearsal, but we are ‘standing-by’ to return as soon as it is safe for our cast, crew and audience!
From the darkness there is always light…………
